✅ Step 1: Check If Bluetooth Is Actually Installed
Press Windows + R
, type devmgmt.msc
, and press Enter – this opens Device Manager.
Look for Bluetooth in the list.
If it's there, expand it and see if anything has a yellow warning icon.
If it’s missing, it could mean the driver isn't installed or Bluetooth is disabled in BIOS.
✅ Step 2: Check in Network Adapters
Still in Device Manager:
Scroll down to Network adapters.
Look for any Bluetooth-related devices (e.g., Intel Wireless Bluetooth).
If it's not there either, read on.
✅ Step 3: Enable Bluetooth in BIOS
Sometimes, Bluetooth is disabled at the hardware level.
Reboot your laptop and tap Esc
or F10
(depends on your model) to enter BIOS/Setup.
Look for something like Built-in Device Options.
Make sure Bluetooth Device is enabled.
Save and exit.
✅ Step 4: Install Missing Drivers
Go to HP’s official driver site.
Search for HP EliteBook 840 G3.
Download and install the latest Bluetooth driver (usually under Driver-Network).
Reboot after installation.
✅ Step 5: Check Services
Press Windows + R
, type services.msc
, press Enter.
Look for Bluetooth Support Service.
If it's not running, right-click > Start.
Set it to Automatic by double-clicking it.
✅ Optional: Use HP Support Assistant
HP has a built-in app that can help install missing drivers:
Search for HP Support Assistant in Start menu.
Open it, check for updates, and install anything related to Bluetooth.
